Biography
Welcome to my website! My name is Sofia Oro, and I am a musician who has been active in the New Jersey/ New York City area for the past 10 years. I have played events ranging from music and art festivals, private events, restaurants, and more! I am working to obtain a BA in Music Education with a concentration in Jazz Voice at Montclair State University.
In addition to writing original music and gaining formal music training, I teach vocal, guitar, and keyboard lessons and early childhood music classes in Jersey City and Hoboken. By gaining experience through multiple projects, I can be a multifaceted music educator and performer. I have performed solo acoustic performances, a duo with percussion, and a full band that plays music influenced by pop, rock, jazz, and funk! I have played extensively as a solo musician, accompanying myself on guitar while singing a mix of original songs and covers. As a solo musician, I have successfully performed sets lasting several hours, demonstrating my stamina and versatility in engaging audiences.

As a bandleader, I bring together talented musicians to create dynamic performances that blend original music and fresh interpretations of rock, soul, and jazz classics. Ranging from an acoustic duo in more intimate settings to an energetic 5-piece band that explores multiple genres—I can offer a variety of entertainment!
Educator
I am an educator that has worked with students of all ages, ranging from early education (infant/toddler) classes to private lessons and group band instruction. I tailor my teaching approach to each student's unique level and musical tastes, creating an encouraging and inspiring environment.
